Foodword

this site is sort of like our "Cook Book", where we share random amateur recipes, from ready-mix pancakes (Coles) to the exquisite "Ketam Kari".... well, i would say that our menu are mostly dari babu-babu punya... anak-anaknya pandai-pandai me-alterlah... some stuff original pulang :PPP

the idea came about pasal kami ani suka M&M (Masak&Makan) together-gether. hehe... sebenarnya Ms. BB pulang yang masak tu.. the rest suka makan.. :P i think it's fair to say that kami ani masak main antam ganya... :P huhu... and btw, anything eatable is postable!!

chicken breast in medium chunks

carrot

cauliflower

tomatoes

1 diced brown onion*
1 inch diced ginger*

5 diced garlic*

1/2 tablespoon blended red chilli*

3 lemon grass

2-3 hot chillies
3 lime leaves (optional)

2-4 tom yam stock cubes or paste*
water

oil
salt msg
*the quantity is up to you. usually i add more especially the tom yam cubes and brown onion

Method:
cut the squids according to your liking, and marinade with a little salt and turmeric powder. stir-fry them and keep it aside for later. firs fry diced brown onion, garlic and ginger with a little oil. then, add in blended red chilli followed by fried squid, prawn and chicken breast. pour in water and then add tom yam cubes or paste, lime leaves, hot chillies, salt and msg to taste. leave it to boil. after the soup is half-boiled, throw in some broccoli, cauliflower, carrot and tomatoes. wait till you satisfy that everything inside the soup is well-cooked.

"Mustard and Herb Chicken"

heart this chicken recipe heaps. it was Mea who first introduced the woolworths mustard and herb marinade sauce to me. if i'm not mistaken it was about 3 years ago. but seriously! it is so nyamannnn kamu!!! you all should try especially to those in oz lah. pasal di mana jua kan berlurih brand woolworths. if brand lain, i doubt it'll be as nice as woolworths's one. anyway, it only cost you about AUD$2.19 per bottle. cheap right? so why not grab a bottle and try this easy-peasy recipe! kalau kata babuku, "tunggang saja jubur, masak cia!" lol

Ingredients:
chicken wings OR chicken breast in small chunks or big chunks
woolworths mustard and herb
blended dried chilli (optional)
blended mixture of red onion, garlic, ginger (optional)
salt and msg (optional)

Method:
coat chicken breast or chicken wings with woolworths mustard and herb sauce. marinade for a few hours or overnight. prepared as a stir-fry, pan-fry, oven-baked, BBQ, or grilled. go for which one you like the most. i personally like to stir-fry on a medium heat. tastier but not so healthy. there's not need to add anything extra to compliment the marinade sauce. the sauce is tasty enough! trust me! but as i love blended dried chilli so much in my cooking, so i usually add a tablespoon of it as well as a spoonful of blended mixture of red onion, garlic and ginger, along with a little bit of salt and msg to taste .

Served With:
plain rice, chips, roasted herb potatoes, salads, etc

Tips:

for a more enhanced flavour, add generously the marinade sauce to the chicken breast/wings during cooking and right before taking them away from the heat.

"Roasted Herb Potatoes"

tried this recipe about two weeks ago (i think!) but only today, i can find the time to post :P anyway, this time, kirakan resipi from me membuyuklah...haha. i used the ready-made seasoning. it was cheap, so i said to self that i should buy it and have a go cooking it. tell ya, i rarely use ready-made thingie. even if i use them in my cooking, i tend to add more stuffs. nda ku bulat2 pakai atu saja, without tambah2. hehehe. i think it's just me. i guess i don't really trust the ready-made stuffs. hahaha... ijap ku inda nyaman and lain rasanya. but there's this one sauce that i adore very much. i just love it as it is. will tell about it in the next post.

"Salmon Ran Oliver Style"

haha.. okay. this is not my recipe. R's punya. haha... ia jadi Iron Chef baik. its simple but pricey because its Salmon. btw people, just want to let you guys know. if you want to buy Olive Oil, try looking at Coles, because at Coles Indro, they sell Bi-Lo Olive Oil 500ml for just 99c. Mr. Ayb would be so proud that we're buying cheap generics! and, people of Aus! Woolies has started selling the halal Colonial Corned Mutton! Woo Rocks!

Ingredients:
Salmon fillet (Fresh)
Masterfoods Garlic & Herb Salt

Olive Oil

Method:
generously, sprinkle Masterfoods Garlic & Herb Salt over both sides of the fillet. pour in a spoon of Olive Oil (probably a spoonful). hehe.. probably because i forgot to ask Iron Chef. mix and spread over the whole fillet. leave for a while (an hour? or more preferably?) heat up a pan, pour in a bit of Olive Oil (don't forget, there's natural oil in fish so you don't want it to be too oily). fry both sides of the sexy fishy. keep in mind that fish meat is fragile.. be careful not to under- or over- cook. if you've managed to cook it well, the skin will taste nice and a bit crispy.

hehe... as i said. this isn't my recipe. it really really tasted good tadi. so, i hope you enjoy :D

"Mee Bandung ala Krl"

Ok, here's my piece of contribution. Thought I might just spice up this foodblog a bit with my latest recipe (not really haha)… I can tell you, it’s really simple… This is Mee Bandung with just a bit of modification or rather, some addition.

Note: Ingredients shown are just for 1 serving.

Ingredients:

2 cups of water
Prawn noodle paste aka perencah Mee Bandung/udang (the essential bit!!)

1 bowl of 'mee kuning' aka thick yellow noodles

Few pieces of de-shelled banana prawns..
No need byk2, too expensive :p
Fried fish tofu or simple tofu - cut to small rectangular pieces

Sliced carrots

Spinach (depends on u if u like or not)

1 tablespoon chilli sauce

1 tablespoon tomato ketchup

1 egg

Sliced chilli & fried shallots to garnish

Method:

Fill a pot with water and put it on medium heat. Gently add some prawn noodle paste into the boiling water enough to make the water appear turbid. Give it a bit of a stir and wait to boil. Next, add the de-shelled prawns, fried fish tofu & carrots. Wait for some time then add in the mee kuning. Stir a bit. Add the amount of chilli & tomato sauce suggested, and again give it a stir. When the mee kuning appears soft & cooked, throw in some spinach, break an egg & stir again. It shouldn't take too long.. Follow your instinct when you think it's time to turn off the gas/stove.. Finally you garnish with a bit of sliced chilli, fried shallots and if you want, some chopped spring onions..

"Ayam Goreng ala Gailey" :P

there are lots of different recipes for ayam goreng but here's one that's easy and cheap..hehe as you only need the basic ingredients to marinade the chicken..

What you need:
Curry powder

Turmeric powder

Salt

Mr Aji

What you do:

if you'd like to fry let's say 6 chicken pieces (or 6 gulungs as I recall Amal and Azim called the drumstick part hehe), add 1 to 2 tablespoon curry powder depending on how spicy you want them to be. As for the turmeric powder, you only need a little, about a quarter teaspoon. The rest, salt and Mr Aji, up to your taste. Marinade for at least half an hour but I personally think the longer you marinade, the better.

I think Nrl taught me this ayam goreng..so yea Nrl..I hope you don't mind me posting one of your recipes.. :P

"Sayur Kacang Panjang"

this is another easy peasy recipe, in fact the simplest perhaps. everyone can prepare this easily, i think! was in a dilemma earlier whether to post about it or not. but i ended up posting it. whatever! i'm so lazy and bored today, and foremost... since i love the pic!
