Foodword

this site is sort of like our "Cook Book", where we share random amateur recipes, from ready-mix pancakes (Coles) to the exquisite "Ketam Kari".... well, i would say that our menu are mostly dari babu-babu punya... anak-anaknya pandai-pandai me-alterlah... some stuff original pulang :PPP

the idea came about pasal kami ani suka M&M (Masak&Makan) together-gether. hehe... sebenarnya Ms. BB pulang yang masak tu.. the rest suka makan.. :P i think it's fair to say that kami ani masak main antam ganya... :P huhu... and btw, anything eatable is postable!!

"BB's Sambal Nasi Lemak"

when there is "nasi lemak", there must be "sambal nasi lemak" right? so here goes... one thing i need to point out is that i can't be so sure how successful you will be in trying this as i tend to adjust the amount of the ingredients. i've tried my best here in giving the best guidance. hope the sambal tastes like mine :P anyhow, happy trying and good luck!

...inda payah rasa, cium bau saja... - "master chef" BB

Ingredient
red onion
blended red chilli

shrimp paste (mash with hot water)
water (reasonable amount)
sweet chilli sauce
sugar
salt, to taste (optional)
msg, to taste (optional)
little oil
dark soy sauce (optional; reasonable amount)

Method:
blend sliced red onion together with blended red chilli (add more if needed to give a reddish colour) and mashed shrimp paste. add reasonable amount of water to the blender. mixture must not be too liquidy. then heat a pot with a little oil only. pour the blended mixture in. fry and constant stir for a while till fragrant. then, add sweet chilli sauce (add more if needed). it takes quite some time for the sambal to thicken. so, be patient! i usually let it cook with the meedium-high heat but be sure to always stir if under high heat (hangus dibawahnya tu). then finally, add dark soy sauce to give it a darker colour if necessary. 2 or 3 gradual drops will do the trick. add sugar to taste. before adding any salt or msg, taste the sambal first as the shrimp paste may already have given the salty taste. i rarely put salt/msg when i prepare this.
